Interviewing a Business Owner - Part II

In this newsletter segment, I will share a few interviews I had the privilege of having with business owners. Every business owner is in a different stage of their journey, allowing us to see what it takes to become an entrepreneur!

Next up, we have Gary Rafe! Gary is originally from Illinois but has lived in Riverside, CA for over 30 years. Gary is a part of Legal Shield and has been a small business owner with Legal Shield for over 22 years. LegalShield specializes in legal and identity theft. While interviewing Gary, his passion for helping those in need was evident. His business allows him to help people in different stages of their lives - from estate planning to employee benefits, or access to legal advice that may otherwise cost a fortune.

I asked Gary to share some of the wins he has experienced as a business owner over the years, and he shared the following: he gets paid DAILY and problem-solving for clients. This stood out because getting to impact so many lives while making a great living sounds like success to me! I also asked Gary to share some struggles he has experienced as an entrepreneur. He shared that one big struggle is having people say they’re interested in joining his team but aren’t serious about joining. Entrepreneurship isn’t something that happens overnight, it still takes work and dedication, even with a proven system. Another struggle is having clients with unrealistic expectations, such as thinking services should be free.

The last question I asked Gary was, “What advice would you give to anyone considering entrepreneurship?” His answer was, “You need the right mindset. Ask yourself if you’re willing to do the work and make those sacrifices to reach your desired point. What books are you reading? Are you coachable?” All of these questions are necessary before deciding to jump into entrepreneurship.

Speaking to Gary gave me great insight into the personal development that comes with business ownership. Gary has reached amazing milestones as an entrepreneur and continues to have the desire to help as many people as possible through affordable Legal counsel!
